Tim Gurner put a serious training floor inside a bathhouse, recovery and longevity club, then sold out all 500 memberships before opening.

Most gyms sell you the workout. Saint Haven sells you everything that happens after it. Tim Gurner, the property developer, built a members-only club in Collingwood modelled on Soho House and the bathhouses of northern Italy. There is a real training floor in here. Six half racks, plate-loaded strength gear, a cycle studio built with a Tour de France racer. But the gym is almost the smallest part of it. Bathhouse, ice, sauna, infrared, hyperbaric, IV drips, a meditation cave, a fountain of youth. 500 members, 15,000 on the waitlist. Saint Haven took its experience in development and pushed it all into hospitality, wellness and gym. Build the experience, cap the supply, then scale the model.

What's inside

  • PLAE
  • Technogym
  • Turf
  • Cycle Studio
  • Reformer Studio
  • Meditation Cave
  • Bathhouse

What they got right

  • Custom half racks by PLAE, the same maker that equips pro and collegiate teams, Technogym plate-loaded strength gear and cardio on a timber-floored, deliberately an anti-gym training floor feel.
  • The recovery ecosystem is the real headline: a mineral thermal pool, saunas, steam room, cold plunge, infrared stone bed, vitamin C shower, and a pressure chamber for cellular recovery.
  • A studio for every modality: a blacked-out cycle studio programmed with pro racer Simon Gerrans, reformer Pilates under circular mirrors, a HIIT room, candlelit yoga, and a meditation cave for breathwork.
  • Members wear Oura smart rings that track sleep, activity, and recovery, and eat alcohol-free, refined-sugar-free food built around performance and longevity.
  • Modelled on Soho House: a concierge lounge where you are greeted by name, heated floors, copper fittings, a custom signature scent tested across 300 blends, and a mineral-water fountain of youth.
  • 500 memberships, capped, sold out before opening with a waitlist that reached 15,000. Membership ran up to roughly $1,000 a week.

Love & Miss

Love
This might be the most complete wellness product in the country. Gurner didn’t build a gym with a spa attached. He built a recovery and longevity club with a serious training floor inside it. Six PLAE racks and machines on one side, a bathhouse, pressure chamber, IV therapy, and a meditation cave on the other. Members wear Oura rings and eat for recovery. 500 spots, 15,000 on the waitlist. Kicked off the now leading Australia luxury gym market in 2023.
Miss
The gym is the smallest part of the offer. Six racks and a turf lane anchor a floor that is really built around the bathhouse, the recovery rooms, and the social space. To a training purist that reads thin. Saint Haven was focused on the time between experiences. Making it about how you feel walking out and who you see while you are there. The training floor gets people in the door. Everything around it is what they actually pay for.
