Promix co-founders Albert Matheny and Devon Levesque bring Austin a private members gym with outdoor training, a full recovery suite and VA7 benches.

The brainchild of Albert Matheny and Devon Levesque, Co-Founders of Promix, Monroe lands in Austin with something the city has been missing: a serious private members gym with a neighborhood feel. Indoor gym, outdoor training zones, full recovery suite, and an on-site restaurant and bar called The Well. This isn't Albert's first operation, either...he ran Soho Strength Lab in NYC across two locations. Monroe is the natural next step.

The indoor floor is open and well-considered rigs, racks, dumbbells, and a strong equipment selection anchored by Hammer Strength, Eleiko, Arsenal, Atlantis, Pit Shark, Woodway, and the VA7 adjustable bench. A mezzanine level sits above the main floor, purpose-built for mobility and lower body work.

What they got right

  • An 'if you know, you know' members gym with a deliberately anti-influencer approach, and a waitlist that proves it's working.
  • VA7 adjustable benches: one of the best on the market, rarely found outside elite facilities
  • Eleiko racks and cables alongside Hammer Strength: a curated strength floor with range and intention
  • Mezzanine section purpose-built for mobility and lower body work
  • Woodway 4Front Treadmills overlooking the open gym floor below
  • Outdoor area with rig, barbells, dumbbells, and kettlebells
  • The backyard sanctuary: yoga, mat pilates, hiit, and myriad programming
  • Full recovery suite: sauna, steam, infrared, and cold plunges. The gooseneck showers alone are worth the visit.
  • Physical therapy and manual therapy on-site
  • The Well, restaurant and bar is on-site for an easy F&B option. Monroe also partnered with well known Pilates brand, Homebody, for an elevated reformer and hot mat Pilates experience.

Love & Miss

Love
The outdoor back sanctuary. A tree-anchored zen area for stretching, yoga, and Pilates is the kind of detail that separates a club from a gym. Monroe also made a smart call bringing in a restaurant partner rather than running F&B themselves. It keeps the focus on the fitness product and lets a specialist handle the rest. VA7 benches, Eleiko racks and cables, and a nostalgic nod with Hammer Strength tell you immediately this was a cool, curated effort.
Miss
Too early to call. Monroe just opened and the market will tell the story. The one thing worth watching, Austin is a competitive wellness market and private club membership requires sustained community energy to hold. The bones are exceptional. Execution over time will tell.
