Performix House LA

Type
Private Fitness Club
Location
West Hollywood, California
9,000 SFTwo floors

A 9,000 SF private West Hollywood club, designed by SPX as both a training floor and a content studio, that was fully built and equipped but never opened.

You can't visit this gym. It doesn't exist anymore...and technically, it never opened. Performix House LA was fully built out in West Hollywood, equipment on the floor, programming in place, and then Covid hit. The doors never opened. But the premise behind it? That's exactly where gyms want to go now. A private club designed to be trained in and have organic social media presence. A space where a serious training session and a piece of content worth posting aren't competing ideas.

What's inside

  • Keiser
  • Watson
  • Sorinex
  • Body Roller
  • Private Studio
  • VertiMax
  • Rogue
  • Vetted Members
  • Never Opened

What they got right

  • SPX led the gym programming, operations planning, and gym design...working alongside FORMM Architecture & Design and KCC Build on the full buildout.
  • Keiser pneumatic machines and Sorinex strength equipment anchored the training floor… a thoughtful, performance-first equipment selection rather than a catalog order.
  • Dedicated private studio built into the footprint, with a back entrance. Anticipating a clientele valuing privacy.
  • Designed explicitly as both a training facility and a content studio: sightlines, lighting, and finish choices built to work on camera as well as on the floor.
  • Membership was intended to be private and vetted — trainers hand-selected from the city’s best gyms, the space doubling as a brand flagship for Performix.
  • The project defaulted in 2020. Covid hit before a single member walked through the door. The equipment sat on the floor of a gym that was fully built and never opened.

Love & Miss

Love
The equipment selection tells you everything about the intent. Keiser, VertiMax, Watson, Sorinex. A performance facility built for operators who train. A private club in West Hollywood with that floor would have been a genuine outlier in the market.
Miss
Covid. The project was fully built, the equipment was on the floor, and it never opened. That’s the whole miss — not a design decision or an operational call. The timing was wrong in a way no one could plan around. What would have been one of the best private gyms in Los Angeles exists now only in photographs.
